Yamaha really wanted to maintain its flagship racer in MotoGP, Jorge Lorenzo. Therefore, they too will soon begin negotiating a new contract with the 2010 world champion.
Lorenzo's Yamaha contract will expire at the end of next season. This condition is similar to contracts Casey Stoner and Dani Pedrosa in Honda and Valentino Rossi on the Ducati, which will also expire at the end of the 2012 season.
Although years ago Lorenzo lost his world championship title, Yamaha remain dissatisfied with the performance of 24-year-old rider. They were determined to keep her on the team.
"Maintaining Jorge is the key. Negotiated contracts will involve all the top racers next year. So, got one of Jorge or Casey is very very important," says Yamaha boss Lin Jarvis, in MCN.
