Villa Success Undergo Surgery

Barcelona striker David Villa has undergone successful surgery with the left foot. However, due to be out for long, chances Villa returned to the show this season is very thin.

Injury was obtained when defending Villa Barca against Al Sadd in the Club World Cup, last Thursday. Known to the Spanish national team striker needed an operation which will force him out for up to five months.

"David Villa had to undergo left tibia surgery on Monday afternoon by Dr. Ramon Cugat and Dr. Ricard Pruna," write the description in the official club website. "The player will remain in hospital for three to four days and recovery time between four and five months."

As reported previously, Villa determined to appear in the final of the Champions League and European Cup of Nations in 2012. But it was not yet certain because they still have to see the progress of recovery.

"The operation went fantastic. He is sending a message to colleagues and laughing with his wife. I've never seen someone with such high spirits after the surgery," said Dr. Ricard Pruna, one of the doctors who operated on Villa at the BBC.

"Some players could end his professional career with a stress fracture," continued the other doctor, Ramon Cugat. "Players do not choose surgery because it did not want to miss four-to-month sentence. Usually nobody wants preventive surgery."

"Everyone is hoping he will play in European Cup in 2012. It will be tight enough for the Champions League final in Munich. If I give a date for the return of the Villa, I could be wrong. Let your feet decide," finished the doctor.
